    A good value for the price

    I've become tablet fan over the years. Since I'm in range for wifi 90% of the time, the larger-than-a-phone size makes them much better for most casual tasks, like surfing the Web, reading news, and playing light games. The Kindle products are solid for the most part and, though there are fewer apps through Amazon than the Google Play store, I find they are typically the apps I use most anyway. In other words, it's not the drawback it once was when tablets were new to consumers. If you're a voracious reader, it's easy to find good, low cost books and works pretty easily with public library systems. I've had Amazon Fire tablets of all sizes; the 8" is a nice size to fit in a moderately-sized bag and it's so lightweight you'll nearly forget you have it with you. Now the only drawbacks in my opinion is that the newer Fire tablets like this are not nearly as well made in terms of the hardware; I doubt they will enjoy the long life of even the original Fire. It feels significantly more "plasticy" than the older models. The clarity for ready is the main drawback though, as the older models are far crisper. That said, most people won't note these drawbacks, so if you're looking for a good budget tablet, go for it!

    Great tablet for the money

    Lost an ipad Mini and tried this lower cost fire 8. While not retina, the screen is good and no one really comments on a difference having viewed both. Takes a while to get the means for navigation. You have to google for it, but it works. Also put a 16 gig SD card in for extra storage. As others have indicated, the camera is not very good, but I use it for display and not capture. There was a challenge finding a video player app that worked well, but MX player worked best for me.

    Difficult to get started but when resolved, Wonderful!

    I could not get my new Kindle HD8 to register with Amazon. I resorted to calling Amazon for help. It was fixed by Amazon and has been wonderful since then. I prefer a paper copy detailing how to use, but that is old fashion I guess. You can use trial and error, with the instructions within the Kindle or sit by your computer and use that. I guess that is the way it is done now, though. Bright screen, easy to use when you finally get it! I would buy again.

    Great tablet!

    Love its screen mirroring compatibility!! Can be used just like a firestick alone using its own screen or mirroring onto my TV. Also functions well as a tablet and a kindle reader! Overall great value. I would give it 5 stars if the battery lasted longer.

    very nice audio and screen

    Camera is not good but i don't really need it. Everything else is great and awesome. This is great size for car and at home. 7 inch is small for inside. I have SD 64GB so all videos are saved. Great battery time as well.

    Great deal.

    This was the best $40 I've ever spent. I upgraded the OS to 5.6.1 and added Google store and now it let's me install any app I want. Great video, ok cameras, good speed and high quality makes it a great deal!

    not fast enough

    This device really could use 2gb ram instead of 1. At times it is very slow. But otherwise very nice. Lovely display.
