Window Motors and Parts for Chevrolet Venture

The Chevrolet Venture uses standard power windows. Standard windows use switches, relays, motors, and a framework to open and close the windows. Whether you need a window motor or window regulator, OEM or aftermarket, its important to find auto parts that are compatible with your auto.

There are typically four sets of switches for the windows on a Chevrolet Venture. There is the master switch, which is located on the inside of the driver’s side door on the armrest. All the windows can be controlled by the master switch. There is also an individual switch located on each passenger door that controls the window for that door.

The switch is connected to the battery via a fuse in the fuse box. When the switch is pressed, electricity flows through the fuse to the switch. The switch sends the energy to a relay where it is then transferred to the window motor inside the door. The motor will go forward or backward to open or close the window, depending on how you press down on the switch.

A motor needs more power than the window switch alone can provide to operate. The switches are a little delicate and don’t need a lot of power to work. Too much power going to a switch will overwhelm it and cause a burnout. A relay is used to stop this from happening. The relay is located in the fuse box and it is connected to the switch and the battery. Little switches open up in the relay when the device is activated. The little switches opening increase the amount of energy going through the relay to the motor so it can raise and lower a window.

The motor has a shaft on it that is connected to the framework in the door frame. The shaft will move clockwise to raise the frame and counterclockwise to lower it depending on whether you press the “upâ€_x009d_ or “downâ€_x009d_ button on the switch.

The regulator is the name for the framework in the door. The framework is made up of two tracks of the same length that are riveted together to form an “X". The window sits in brackets at the top part of the frame and when the racks move closer together, the window rises. When the tracks move further apart, the window lowers down.

Changing the switches is relatively easy. You pop the switch up off of the armrest and disconnect the electrical connections on it. Put the connections on the new switch and push it back onto the armrest. Working on the parts inside of the door is a little more complicated. You have to take off the inside door panel and vapor barrier to expose the parts so you can work on them. Changing the relays simply involves accessing the fuse box and locating the right relay in it. Pull the old one out and stick the new one into the slot on the fuse box.
