Possibly the best e-reader ever
I have owned numerous e-readers. Sony PRS-350, this PRS-650, a red PRS-T1, a Kobo Aura HD, and an Onyx M96C large format e-reader. As you can tell I don't do Kindle or Nook. I want a reader that will do epub and pdf formats, which is what most of my e-library consists of. The form factor of the Sony PRS series is my favorite of all time. The front is ALUMINUM, the back is plastic that feels solid like metal, the whole thing is simultaneously light and satisfyingly strong, and it's a pleasure to hold. The PRS-650 screen is just the right size for me. The 350 is wonderfully small but the Small size doesn't fit enough words on a line, and the XS size is ridiculously small - I can read it, but not comfortably. Even so, I picked up TWO backup 350s in case the sad day ever comes when my 650 kicks the bucket. I didn't like the PRS-T1 as much. The build quality felt like flimsy plastic; the screen was somehow not as satisfyingly crisp; the software was buggy and unreliable. (The whole thing crashed when I added or removed items from collections, something I never even bother with nowadays.) Also, when you turn the page in a PDF the T1 somehow takes 20 seconds to pull the next page up. The PRS-350 and 650 handle that in an instant, whether you're reflowing text or not. I don't get it. I really liked my Kobo Aura HD but somehow my boyfriend broke it. I liked the T1 okay but somehow I bricked it while updating the operating system. (I think the memory was just too full and the thing couldn't cope.) I like the Onyx M96C but it's huge. For large format PDFs it's great, but for epubs and text-only PDFs I'm much happier cozying up with the much more manageable PRS-650. Finally, if you're running an e-reader, get Calibre software to manage your library and side-load books onto your reader(s). It's the best. Sorry to have gone on so long. I love reading, so I have strong feelings about e-readers. If you're not willing to roam only within the borders of Kindle or Nook, a Sony reader is a great choice. Get one while you still can! Sony has stopped making them! I hope you enjoy whatever works best for you.

Sony prs-600
The prs-600 is a good value for the money, easy to read and will accept PDF and EPUB eBooks, however it will not work with nooks, it was a real headache trying to get the nooks to work, someone told me they would but no they don't. The battery is quirky sometimes it says it's fully charged and others it says it's not in those cases I found to let it run completely out then charge completely (till the red charge light goes off) that seems to fix the problem, I haven't had a problem since. It's been a really good e-reader, easy to read, with a long battery life.

A Great Read
The Sony PRS-650 is a great e-pub, adobe reader. The screen is of great clarity with the ability to change text size. You can change the rotation to give you wide screen, It has the facility to have downloaded daily papers and magazines as well. You can be listening to music played on the reader while being absorbed in a novel, that's if you can multitask. How do I know this, well this is my second purchase of a Sony PRS-650 which I had to get from the USA. (I trod on my first one......)

Showing Age
Compared to current ebook readers the Sony PRS-950 is showing it's age. Does not have any wireless communications or screen illumination. Latest firmware on Kindle and Kobo ebook readers also more advanced including more fonts and boldness settings. This Sony does have expandable memory and all metal construction which gives it a certain classic Sony electronics appearance and feel. Has an excellent infrared touch screen that works well and allows hand written notes as well as displaying user loaded photos in black and white. Battery life will vary depending on age and battery condition.

Bought my original one 7 years ago and had just given up the will to live. As I liked it so much had to find a replacement. Sony had stopped makeing them so had to hunt high and low for another.Lucky for me I found one on E Bay from USA in perfect conition.Hope this one lasts as long. In my mind it is better than other Readers but I am biased

Exactly what I wanted
Exactly what I wanted. It took a while to get it to accept the Kobo update, so it would work with the reader library, Kobo bookstore and public library. Maybe you could add the site to go to get the update and how to install it. Very satisfied with the reader.

Sony Reader Touch Review
I have the original sony reader and assumed this one would be just as easy to install but I am having a bit of a problem putting it on the computer and replacing the one I have on there. Jay

Not completely happy... with the manufacturer.
The black "wink" in page turn is somewhat annoying. There is not enough contrast between the text and the screen (screen is dim, needs strong light to read). Contrast / brightness is not adjustable. Otherwise it is great.
