What types of models are available?
Here is an overview of some of the most well-known models throughout the years:
- 1939-1949 - The 1939 Model 99A was among the first models, which became an instant hit with consumers. Collectors also relish the Mercury Eight sedan and its coupe version. All of these vehicles incorporated V-8 as a standard.
- 1949-1959 - The decade was dominated by coupe and convertible models. Monterey, Montclair, Turnpike, and Colony Park are the most prized models.
- 1959-1970 - The period is known for its variety of new models as the company entered the compact category and also introduced a full-size sedan. Prominent models include the two-door Meteor, Marquis, Cougar, and Montego. Four-door options included the Comet and Marauder.
- 1970-1979 - The company started focusing on high-content vehicles instead of sports and coupe cars. Grand Monarch, Colony Park, and Bobcat were newly introduced four-door models while Capri II was a compact two-door model.
- 1980-1989 - These years are known for the modernization of the entire production line. Lynx, Sable, and Topaz complemented the former Grand Marquis, Cougar, and Lynx variants.

Mercury trucks
The M Series truck was produced between 1946 and 1968. These trucks were intended for the Canadian market, but they are readily available in the United States as they proved equally successful for a large number of American farmers living in the Northern U.S. These days, an original truck may be rare, but there are a variety of modified versions available. Another truck introduced in the late ‘60s was M-100, which was similar in configuration to M-series trucks. Other variants include the Econoline EM-100 pickup and flatbed M700 tow truck.
The breezeway window
In 1957, Mercury introduced an automated retractable back-window concept in its Mercury Turnpike models. These cars were also known as Breezeway cars due to their unique design. Often, the design is associated with the earliest version of the sunroof. The back windshield would open slightly to provide thorough ventilation. The design was also introduced in Continental-Mark cars, and it was also shared with sister companies. In fact, the optional reverse-slant roofline was unique to the brand between 1963 and 1966.
