Mitsubishi Endeavor Interior Switches and Controls

The Mitsubishi Endeavor is one of a number of SUVs this manufacturer sold in the United States. It is feature-rich, which means it has a lot of controls and switches that, over time, may need to be repaired or replaced. Fortunately, there are a variety of parts available that are compatible with your Mitsubishi Endeavor model.

How do you remove the cruise control switch?

The cruise control switch connects to the clock spring in the car’s steering wheel. This spring can go bad and may need replacement with a compatible one for your Mitsubishi Endeavor vehicle.

  1. To remove the cruise switch for replacement or repair, first you must turn the steering wheel so the wheels are pointed straight ahead.
  2. Next, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.
  3. Loosen the airbag bolts on the side of the steering wheel (these bolts don’t come out all the way).
  4. Lift out the airbag and unplug its connections.
  5. Make sure you have a good view of the switch and the screws holding it in place. Remove the screws.
  6. The clock spring connector will need to be unplugged so you can slide the switch out as you rotate it.
How do you replace the SRS clock spring?

Make sure the wheels of the Endeavor SUV are pointing straight ahead before disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Wait a couple of minutes before pulling the fuse to the SRS system. After these tasks are complete, do the following:

  1. Remove the steering wheel cover and loosen any bolts associated with the airbag system so it can be carefully removed.
  2. The steering damper should also be used and the steering wheel nut loosened with a puller so the steering wheel can be completely removed.
  3. If you cant see the clock spring, depending on your Mitsubishi Endeavor’s model year, remove the lower section of the steering wheel column and then remove the steering wheel sensor.
  4. Install the new clock spring by reversing your steps, but make sure the mating marks for the spring are perfectly aligned or the vehicles multifunction switch will not work.
How do you program a Mitsubishi Endeavor Key Fob?

How you program the key fob for your SUV depends on the model year. The 2006 and newer models require programming by an automotive locksmith. Older models are programmed using the Data Link Connector located beneath the steering column. This process takes two people because there is a jumper wire that needs managing. Ports 1 and 4 must be located on the Data Link Connector. Once these are located, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the key in the vehicles ignition, but dont turn it. Use a paper clip and use it as a jumper wire.
  2. Flip the hazard switch six times fairly quickly. The door locks will respond, letting you know that its time to program the fob.
  3. You only have 10 seconds to push the lock button three times. You will hear the door locks respond again.
  4. Additional remotes must be programmed within 60 seconds.
  5. Remove the paper clip and test the remotes.
