BMW 530i Grilles
The BMW 530i Grilles allow airflow to the fan and radiator, while protecting the components from large rocks or other particles reaching or damaging them. They are divided into two individual sections on the front end of the BMW.
Are the grilles sold only as a set of two?The grilles can be purchased individually for each side, or as a set. These grilles are not interchangeable, and are designed differently for each side. They look similar, so to avoid confusion, the left side refers to the front left when facing forward while sitting behind the steering wheel. The style of grilles are compatible with some other models of BMW, but function the same whether they are considered OEM parts or aftermarket.
What function does a grille serve?Grills are not just an aesthetic part. Although they are a key piece in keeping the car in stock condition, they play an integral role in the functionality of the BMW 5 Series as well. The grille prevents potentially harmful debris, rocks, gravel, or sticks from entering the front the of the car, especially at high speeds or when utilizing the turbo iDrive or xDrive capabilities. These particles can damage the automatic fan or the radiator, indirectly resulting an overheated engine or other similarly harmful outcomes.
How do you install the grilles?To install the new grilles, you must first remove the existing set. By opening the hood of the vehicle or safely looking underneath, you can locate the clamps behind the grilles holding them in place. Whenever placing yourself underneath any part of a car, make sure the car is not sloped in downward in your direction; also avoid aligning yourself with the tires, should the parking brake fail for any reason. Disengage the clamps and push the grilles out the front of the vehicle. Place the new grilles on each side respectively, and pull them into place as evenly as possible. Clamp each of them into the brackets, the same way the previous set was. Once clipped in, ensure that they are secure to avoid the possibility of them coming loose while driving.
Are grille cover clips compatible with these grilles?Aftermarket grille covering clips come in a variety of designs, and this model of grille does have corresponding grille clips that are currently on the market. They attach from the front and act as an optional, colorfully aesthetic, and somewhat protective, addition to the front of your sedan. The grille clips are simply slid vertically onto the slits of the grille, on either side.
