Jeep Cherokee Car and Truck Exterior Mirrors

Jeep Cherokee mirrors are available in a variety of styles with a plethora of features. Mirrors are typically fairly durable to accommodate different terrains. Cleaning your exterior mirrors regularly helps to keep them maximally effective.

What styles of Jeep mirrors are available?

Jeep Cherokee exterior mirrors are available in a variety of styles, including coated, non-coated, folding, stationary, heated, non-heated, manually adjusted, and power adjusted.

  • Coated mirrors feature a layer that guards against excessive glare. This way, shine from a setting sun or from extremely bright headlights behind the Jeep Cherokee will not affect the driver’s visibility. Non-coated mirrors are equally as effective at projecting images from the sides and rear of the vehicle. The matter of glare coating is purely personal preference.
  • Folding mirrors have a hinge inside them that allows the mirror portion to fold toward the Cherokee in areas that have high traffic flow or are tight in terms of space. This may become useful when parking in an urban setting or in a lot that expects cars to be very close together. Stationary mirrors remain extended at all times and likely need to be adjusted less often.
  • Heated mirrors can be defrosted or defogged with the use of a button on the driver’s door or in the dashboard. Non-heated mirrors can be defrosted or defogged the traditional way, by turning the vehicle on for several minutes so that it warms up. A snow brush or ice scraper can also be used to remove ice.
  • Manually adjusted exterior mirrors are angled with the fingers. Pressure is applied to the glass in order to tilt the mirror up, down, left, and right. Power adjusted mirrors are moved from the operator’s seat with a series of buttons. Both are efficient at angling the mirrors so that the Cherokee’s operator has the most visibility possible around both sides of the vehicle.
What are mirrors made from?

Mirrors on your model year Jeep are typically made from a combination of plastic, metal, and glass. The outside cap on the mirror needs to be as durable as possible; usually this durable material overhangs the mirror slightly for increased protection. The mirrored glass is as secure as possible and is often treated to remain intact even in areas with great variety in temperature.

How do you wash exterior mirrors?

Exterior mirrors can be cleaned with a mixture of warm water and soap. Apply this solution to the mirrors with a soft cloth or a sponge, and rub until all debris is gone. When the mirrors are clean, rinse them with water and dry them with another soft cloth. Hard water spots on the mirrored glass can be removed with a mixture of baking powder and vinegar. Apply the paste and wait until it dries before rinsing it away.
