DEPO Auto Parts Car and Truck Headlights

Make driving a cinch with powerful headlights that thoroughly illuminate the roads and the landscape. DEPO manufactures headlights featuring different bulb types, housing, and color temperatures.

Are DEPO smoke and black headlights the same?

They are not the same. Both types provide aesthetic enhancement to your vehicle in addition to the other principal benefit headlights offer, such as multidirectional illumination to improve low-light circumstances and bad visibility. Black headlights usually include a clear lens over a black background. Smoked, or smoke, headlights typically have a tinted lens over a background that is chrome or silver-hued.

Smoke housing creates a seamless look to match your cars paint finish. Smoke housing also offsets matte black or gloss black wheels.

How do HID and bi-xenon HID conversion kits work?

Both kits let you convert your existing light to High-Intensity Discharge. However, unless specified, an HID conversion kit typically replaces a single beam, in which your existing assembly contains two housings in the same assembly: one for high beam and one for low beam.

By contrast, a bi-xenon kit replaces dual-beam halogen, in which your existing assembly contains one housing with a dual-filament halogen light that shines both high and low beams. Both HID and bi-xenon HID lights work the same way:

  • Electricity arcs between tungsten electrodes inside glass housing filled with xenon gas or mercury vapors.
  • The gas or vapors prolong the life of the electrodes and keep the surrounding glass from acquiring burn marks.
Are there light types brighter than xenon?

Types dont determine brightness. Lumens indicate brightness, and all headlights have lumen levels in the dozens of thousands, which are more than adequate to illuminate an array of low-light conditions, bad weather, and inadequate visibility.

Here are some light type examples:

  • LED: Light-emitting diodes produce illumination through electron and electron hole recombination after electricity interacts with two-lead semiconductors.
  • CCFL: Cold-Cathode Fluorescent Light occurs when a phosphor coating comes into contact with discharged electrons.
  • Halogen: An incandescent bulb whose tungsten filament glows when heated by electricity.
What do CAPA, SAE, and ISO mean?

These are abbreviations for certifications or standardizations pertaining to the quality and durability of DEPO automotive lighting and other aftermarket parts. Depending on the state you live in, the vehicle you drive, and what you use your vehicle for, you may require DEPO lights, housing, and other lamp accessories that have one or more of these certifications or standardizations attesting to soundness of construction, quality of materials, and reliability.

  • ISO: International Organization for Standardization
  • CAPA: Corrective and Preventive Action
  • SAE: Society of Automotive Engineers
Do you have to buy pairs?

No, you do not. You can purchase single DEPO bulbs and assemblies as needed for the drivers side or the passengers side. There are DEPO assemblies and conversion kits with and without bulbs. The shape of some assemblies lets you install them interchangeably on the right or the left side. Others have very specific shapes that apply to a specific side.
