Complete Engines for Lexus LS400

Making its debut in January 1989, the Lexus LS 400 was the first model developed for the flagship luxury sedan (LS) line. The frame and components used in the LS 400 served as the foundation for a number of the luxury sedans added over the years. Virtually all of the Lexus LS 400 cars are produced from the companys flagship plant in Tahara.

The first-generation of production for the Lexus LS 400 vehicle spans from 1989 to 1994. The motor used for the new models released during these years was a 4.0 L V8. The output is 250 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. Lexus used a 4-speed automatic transmission for this generation.

The second-generation of Lexus LS 400 vehicles were produced between 1994 and 2000. The 4.0 L eight-cylinder motor was also used in these vehicles. The output produced is 260 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm. Vehicles in this generation were fitted with either a 4-speed or 5-speed.

The third-generation of the Lexus LS 400 vehicles were produced between 2000 and 2006. These Lexus models come equipped with a 4.3 L eight-cylinder. This Lexus LS400 puts out 290 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque at 3400 rpm. The 5-speed automatic was standard initially, but Lexus introduced a 6-speed automatic transmission version around 2004.

The fourth-generation versions of the Lexus LS400 vehicles were produced from the year 2006 to the year 2017. The Lexus engine used in this generation of the Lexus LS400 is a 4.6 L eight-cylinder. The output in this Lexus generation is 380 hp with rear-wheel drive and 360 hp with all-wheel drive. Both the RWD and AWD models are equipped with an 8-speed auto-transmission.

The fifth generation of the Lexus LS400 car spans from 2007 to 2017. These vehicles have been dubbed by Lexus as the LS 500 or the LS 350. These revamped Lexus LS cars are the first to come equipped with 3.5 L twin-turbo V6. This version of the Lexus vehicle puts out over 400 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.

The naturally aspirated V6 in the Lexus LS 350 produces 318 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. This is the same V6 used in the Lexus GS 350. The Lexus LS 400 cars in this generation are equipped with a 10-speed automatic.
