Chevrolet Performance and Racing Parts

Whether you have a high-performance Chevrolet sports car like a Corvette or Camaro or a car that you race, performance accessories and racing parts can go a long way in improving handling at high speeds. Here is a look at some of the high-caliber racing components that Chevrolet makes and the kinds of cars that can benefit from them.

What are racing engines?

Chevrolet offers a series of high-powered racing engines designed to give your car an instant upgrade. They are manufactured as crate engines, which means that most of the necessary components are already assembled in the crate that they come in. Racing engines, in general, tend to be able to stay cool at higher RPMs and have the torque to go from zero to maximum speed quickly. Some of Chevy's common racing engine styles include:

  • The Ram Jet 350 with and without connect and cruise: Features 350 HP at 5000 RPM and 403 feet-pounds of torque.
  • The SP350 in base, deluxe, or connect and cruise: Features 357 HP at 5500 RPM and 407 feet-pounds of torque.
  • The HT502: Features 406 HP at 4200 RPM and 541 feet-pounds of torque
What are Connect and Cruise Powertrains?

The Connect and Cruise E-ROD system adds catalytic converters and emissions equipment for CARB-compliance for 1996 and earlier Chevy vehicles. This can give you the power of an old engine that took leaded gas while still being street legal in emissions states. Connect and Cruise powertrain transmission combinations are calibrated and include wiring harnesses to refit old model Chevy trucks and cars.

How do performance chips work?

Performance chips are calibrated for most automotive makes and models manufactured later than 1995. The chip plugs into your onboard computer port. The chip requires no installation, and it upgrades your Chevy's performance in both 2WD and 4WD vehicles with automatic or manual transmissions. Engine sensors communicate with the chip which communicates with actuators within your motor to improve your performance. The chip improves ignition timing and your air fuel mixture to increase your horsepower while reducing your gasoline consumption. The Chevrolet Colorado truck performance chip, for example, increases:

  • Acceleration 0-60 times
  • Fuel economy by 4 miles per gallon
  • Horsepower by 34+
  • Throttle response by 50%
  • Torque by 30%
  • Engine life
What other parts can improve performance on a Chevy?

A number of body adjustments can be done to make your car more aerodynamic and capable of handling turns at high speeds like a pro. These can include spoilers and other aerodynamic upgrades, lowered racing suspension, racing tires, and a tightened steering response.
