Honda Fit Blower Motors

Whether youre heading across town or taking a drive across the country, staying comfortable in your Honda Fit is one of the best ways to enjoy the ride. Your Fit is equipped with a powerful climate control system, but without a blower motor to push that conditioned air to the cabin, your comfort could suffer. Therefore, its important to keep your Honda Fits blower motor in top condition at all times.

How does a Fit blower motor work?

Your Honda Fits blower motor assembly is made up of several parts that are critical to its proper operation. The motor itself takes electricity and spins the fan to move the air. The fan uses dozens of precision-engineered blades to move a large volume of air through the vehicle as quickly and efficiently as possible. There is also a motor resistor that allows you to control the speed of your motor. Without this resistor, the fan can only run at full blast all the time.

Must the entire Honda Fit blower motor be replaced?

If youre experiencing issues with this motor, it could be any one of the aforementioned components causing the problem. The good thing about that is you may only have to swap a single HVAC component rather than the entire assembly, resulting in an easier replacement. These components are all available either as original equipment manufacturer parts from Honda or as aftermarket products. Of course, you can also select the entire assembly that contains the fan and the motor as one unit.

Given the fine tolerances in the blower motor compartment, selecting the correct part for your particular Fits model year is extremely important. Any fan that is even slightly larger than the original will not fit in the compartment. Any fan thats too small will not be able to adequately heat and cool your vehicles interior as you drive.

How do you replace a blower motor on a Fit?

Although you can replace single components on your Fits blower motor, it is also quite common to replace the entire motor assembly at once. To replace the entire motor, follow these steps:

  • Remove the interior trim piece covering the blower by prying out the clips holding the piece in place.
  • Disconnect the electrical harness from the blower, then remove the bolts holding the blower assembly in place.
  • Slide the old blower assembly out, then slide the new one into place, and re-install the bolts holding it.
  • Re-connect the electrical harness, then check for proper operation.
  • When it is operating correctly, re-install the interior trim piece by snapping the clips back into place.
