Do ball joints require lubrication?

Only ball joints that have a grease fitting require additional lubrication over time. Ball joints are now commonly sealed, and this allows for them to be sealed without end. If the seal is altered in any way, this could be grounds for a ball joint replacement. For this reason, grease-fitted ball joints are thought to last longer than those that are sealed.
