Ford Ranger A/C and Heater Controls

The Ford Ranger is a compact to mid-size pickup with multiple generations and updates to its cabin. After some time, you may need to change the A/C or heating controllers. With a wide selection of A/C and heater controls, you can find what you need for your Ford Ranger.

What are the features of Ford Ranger heater controls?
  • Ergonomic design: The knobs on the controlling plate for the cabins heating and cooling system have an ergonomic design. They can easily be adjusted or turned with either hand.
  • Easy-to-Read: The knobs and face plates use blue to indicate cooling and red to indicate heating. They also use symbols to show intensity, speed, and direction of the airflow.
  • Adjustable air flow: The heater core controllers allow you to make incremental adjustments to the speed of the flowing warm or cold air. They also allow you to select which vents the air flows out of for interior cabin comfort.
How do you choose Ranger A/C and heat control parts?
  • Select by your trucks model year: Different Ford Ranger model years and trim levels have different sizes and styles of hardware. This can include face plates, knobs, and other accessories for controlling the temperature of the passenger cabin.
  • Choose a single knob or a thermostat assembly: You can find a single replacement knob to turn the heater off and on or adjust the fan speed. You can also opt for an assembly that has knobs for controlling the air flow and temperature.
  • Select by manufacturer: You can select Ford as the original equipment manufacturer of the heating and cooling controllers. You could also select accessories made by aftermarket manufacturers, including Airtex, BWD Automotive, Dorman, Four Seasons, Motorcraft, and Standard Motor Products. There are also unbranded parts for controlling the heating and air conditioning.
How do you replace the Ranger heaters control?

The Ranger heating systems controller communicates with the thermostat and heater core to deliver the right level of heat to the passenger cabin. When there is no heat, a defective heating controller and knob assembly can be replaced. To replace the heater core, controller assembly and knob:

  1. Disconnect the cigarette lighter on the dashboard.
  2. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the dashboard and instrument panel covering piece. Then, pry off the heating units control knob. Remove the screw and detach the temperature control switch and cable.
  3. Disconnect and take out the assembly for the heater control. Insert the new unit, connecting its wiring in the same way that the old units wiring was connected.
  4. Reattach all of the screws, cables, and switches in the reverse order from which you disconnected them. Reattach the dashboard covering, cigarette lighter, and replacement knob.
  5. Turn on the engine to ensure that the heater core is delivering the desired level of heat to the cabin when you turn the heating systems control knob.
