Dodge Dakota A/C and Heater Controls

The Dodge Dakota A/C and heater controls are a vital part in control the climate within your vehicle. Over time these controls may need to be replaced due to normal wear and tear. Luckily, you can find a variety of A/C and heater controls for your Dodge Dakota.

What are common temperature controls for the Dodge Dakota?

This Dodge is designed with a three-knob temperature control scheme that gives you control of the heating and the cooling for the entire cab. It has a knob that allows you to adjust the airflow that is coming out of the vents; there are four settings that you can select from to adjust the sped of the fan. There is also a knob that is used to adjust whether the air is warm or cool that is coming out of the vents.

The final knob allows you to control where the air is being released from. There are six settings that allow you to choose from the defrosters, the main vents, the floor vents, or a combination of them. This type of temperature display was common after the year 1997, so if you have an earlier model, the display will look much different.

The display from the model year 1987 to 1996 is designed with slide controls that adjust the fan speed and the temperature. There is also an option that allows you to select which vent the air is coming out of, but there are only four options to choose from in older models, which are the face vent option, the foot vent option, a combination of the two vents, and the defroster so that you can easily clear your windshield from snow, ice, or fog.

Are there aftermarket colored temperature controls?

The original OEM climate control knobs for the last generation of Dakota trucks have a standard LED display that is mostly white, but if you want the dash in your vehicle to be a bit more colorful, there are aftermarket options that you can consider for your replacement. These models come in red, blue, and green, and you can even customize the color of the light for a unique display. Keep in mind that these LED displays are not standard on all models of this truck, so these colored temperature controls may not be available for your Dodge Dakota.

Can the knobs on the temperature control panel be replaced?

Typically, the individual knobs and slide mechanisms that are designed into the climate control unit of the pickup can be replaced by popping the broken piece out of the panel and replacing it. That being said, if you have an older model, it is often a simpler process to replace the entire control panel and give your Dodge’s dash an updated look.
