A Bathing Ape

A Bathing Ape, also known commonly as BAPE, was founded as a youth Japanese fashion company in 1993 by Japanese designer and entertainer Nigo. The logo and themes were based on the Planet of the Apes movies and were meant to poke fun at extravagant and luxurious lifestyles. While A Bathing Ape does produce clothes for women and children, it is mostly known as a brand for men.

A Bathing Ape became associated with hip-hop style and culture as the clothing line went international in the early 2000s. The BAPE brand is mostly worn by youth and young adult men. A Bathing Ape items are usually brightly colored, vibrant, and feature gorillas, apes, or sharks.

Hoodies are signature items for the A Bathing Ape brand. While there are many colors and features of hoodies, some things are usually standard.

• A Bathing Ape hoodies may either come as a pullover style, or may have a silver YKK zipper. Some styles have drawstrings for the hood, but not all.
• Camo patterns come in a variety of colors like green and brown, yellow and gray, or green and tan.
• Block coloring is another common style for A Bathing Ape.
• All hoodies feature some type of BAPE logo, faces, or other identifying marks.
• The shark style features a shark head design on the hood. The design will be visible when the hood is worn up.
• A Bathing Ape windbreaker jackets feature a synthetic exterior shell with a warm and soft cotton interior lining on both the body and hood.
• The phrase WGM is common to BAPE items. It stands for World Gone Mad.

A Bathing Ape brand covers many different items of clothing, including shoes. Here are some of the common styles in these items. The shark and ape face design and WGM logo are common on all items.

• BAPE denim jeans feature standard jean colors, but are printed with the faces in different locations. They may feature other accents such as different-colored pockets.
• BAPE sweatpants are a cotton-based soft pant. Like the jeans, they feature faces and accents. Colors can range widely and may feature patterns such as camo.
• BAPE cotton shorts come in a variety of colors and a camo pattern, with faces on the front or back.
• BAPE T-shirts feature a wide array of logos and themes. These are short-sleeved cotton shirts.
• BAPE cotton crew neck sweatshirts are usually in camo patterns. Unlike jackets, these will not be hooded.
• BAPE shoes come in several different sizes, styles, and patterns.
• Baby Milo is a BAPE line that features the image of a small baby monkey. This line can feature collaborations with other brands or characters. The Baby Milo line feature several types of clothes and some Milo toys.
• Collaborations include Coca-Cola and SpongeBob SquarePants.
